Many Spectrum users have been wondering if the cable network has picture-in-picture mode since they want to be able to browse through other channels.
Since there is no obvious way Spectrum displays a picture in picture mode, you may not know if you ever have this option on your cable network.
Picture in Picture mode is available on most TV’s so when there isn’t an obvious setting for it it can be a bit frustrating.
In this article, I’m going to be answering whether or not Spectrum TV has Picture in Picture mode and what to do if it isn’t really working.
Does Spectrum Have Picture in Picture?
In general, most Spectrum cable TVs don’t have Picture in Picture mode. Especially the new ones, for one reason or another, Spectrum has discontinued the picture in picture mode.
Spectrum used to have this feature available. There used to be a PIP button that brings up other channels in the order of the screen.
However, on new remotes and screen layouts, they don’t have this option anymore. If you do have a spectrum cable option that was introduced closer to the 2000s, your TV more than likely has Picture in Picture Mode.
Why is There No picture in Picture on Spectrum TV
People these days aren’t that interested in PIP mode anymore so it’s not really worth it for businesses to implement it in their TVs if no one is using it.
Another reason Spectrum doesn’t have a Picture in Picture Mode is because it causes burn-in. Burn-in is when the backlights of the TV imprint on the TV screen.
This is another reason why they may have discontinued it as it would be a problem for a lot of customers if their TVs were damaged due to the Spectrum cable.
This would be bad for business hence why they may have stopped it. For newer-model TVs, it may not be as much of a problem but it’s still a possibility.
Spectrum Picture in Picture Not Working
If Spectrum Picture in Picture isn’t working for you then you need to make sure that at least one of the sources you’re using is on HDMI. If more than one is HDMI then PIP more won’t work since it creates an interference.
One has to be HDMI via analog and the rest have to be digital. The same also goes for split screen.
If the picture doesn’t fit on your TV screen then you need to go through the initial setup first > Change the SD or HD TV aspect ratio in Settings & Support > Preferences > Audio, Video & Display > Video.
Most TVs disable PIP mode once the TV is turned off. You need to make sure that you always enable it again whenever you turn on your TV.
Contact Spectrum Support
If you are still left confused or annoyed that you don’t have this feature/don’t know if you even have it then you should contact Spectrum Support.
From here you will need to explain your issue and ask any questions you may have and they will be able to give answers depending on which version you have.
You can chat with them by going to the Spectrum Support website and hitting “Chat With Us” on the left-hand panel.
It’s better if you contact them by phone as the chat feature may not connect you with an agent right away.
Conclusion
You now know that your Spectrum TV most likely doesn’t have Picture in Picture mode. If your TV is newer then it most likely doesn’t.
However, if it’s an older model then you will need to look for the PIP mode button which allows you to browse other channels.
If PIP mode doesn’t work then you need to make sure that at least one input is from HDMI. Only make sure that it’s turned on every time you turn the TV on.
