Can You Use Airpods in The Shower

Looking through an Apple forum I have seen a copious amount of success stories of individuals accidentally placing their AirPods in the washing machine and even drying them and somehow they still work perfectly fine.

One guy says, ” I mistakenly put my AirPods in the washing machine. And after waiting for 30 mins and drying them for 60 minutes, they are still working as they used to be.” This was without the case. by the way, I had to tweak this quite I tiny bit due to plagiarism writes but it can still be located here.

This was just one of the tones of similar questions

Now let’s get on to if you can take them into the shower? One guy in the forum says that he has taken them into the shower and they still work perfectly fine, so this raised the question, are more waterproof than what is said? With my expertise and experience with my AirPods.

I would say yes. I know a fair amount of people who have taken them into the have and nothing wrong has come out of that, however, the risk is at your own discretion, however, I would say there is really nothing to be worried about.

What Does Apple Say

Well, Apple hasn’t actually said anything about their waterproof ability. However, what Apple has said is that they are a little bit water-resistant.

By this what I mean is that they could be used during a workout or if you are caught up in the middle of a rainstorm.

Both the apple AirPods and their case don’t have an IP rating which is a ratio that scores products based on their resistance

From this, we can say that the AirPods aren’t waterproof but who’s not to say they can’t withstand water? well I think I can say this

Are Your AirPods Water Damaged

If you have taken them into and what to know if they have been water damaged which I’d say is unlikely.

If you have left them tightly in your ear throughout the shower, then the best way to tell if they are water damaged is if you play some music and the sound comes out distorted.

You can also tell they have been damaged if you charge them and the charging icon on your device doesn’t change after a while. If you find that this happens then my next step my help

Repairing Options

Apple doesn’t offer aftercare plans for AirPods as they do for iPhone. However, your AirPods would come under warranty if they were purchased from an apple provider or if you bought them from a third-party market then they will still cover the warranty.

If you do end up going to a genius bar, then you may not want to mention that you have showered with them as they may not fix it and if you don’t there’s no way of telling them how.

The cost of repairing them is around the £50 mark. This may skew your decision on whether to shower with them

Conclusion

Hopefully, the information I have re-laid onto you has helped your decision on whether to shower with them or not.

I can confidently say that they do withstand a lot of water, so it may be safe to shower with them however if there is continuous exposure of water to them then you may just run out of luck.
